2013 Recipient
The Vietnamese American Bar Association of Washington (VABAW)’s 2013 Hồng Đức Clerk is Oanh Le Hoang, an upcoming second-year law student from the University of Washington. Le spent her 2013 summer at Hogan Lovells in their Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, office.
VABAW’s Hồng Đức Clerkship awards one law student full funding for airfare, lodging, and a daily stipend for the summer clerkship. The clerkship is currently in its sixth year.
Le graduated from the Pacific Lutheran University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (with a concentration in finance and minors in math and economics), and will start her second year of law school at University of Washington in the fall of 2013. She is interested in becoming an international business attorney after graduation.
Prior to starting law school, Le worked as an intern, technical analyst, and, eventually, a client service associate at Russell Investments where she helped translate investment documents to and from Vietnamese. She also gathered information on Vietnam for the “Russell 20/20” organization “which brings capital from leading institutional investors to emerging markets around the world.” Le was born and raised in Da Nang, Vietnam, and is fluent in Vietnamese. Le and her immediate family live in the Seattle area and have a strong connection to the Seattle community.
